What Is Light Therapy?
Light therapy can be used on many cosmetic conditions as well as health condition.  Light therapy improves skin tissue and muscle tone.  This therapy is designed to penetrate deep into the tissues by utilizing different wavelengths of light.  The light emits energetic information to the body via harmonics of sound, frequencies of light, to the energy field of the cell.  The instrument produces this information through the vehicle of noble gas ionization.  There exists a long tradition, of research in the energetic effects of these noble gasses.  The gasses used are Xenon, Argon, and Krypton.    The system works by stimulating a natural cellular regeneration and repair process resulting in sessions that are quick, painless with great results.

What Does Light Therapy Do?
Light therapy can:
 - Increase vascularity (circulation) by increasing the formation of new capillaries, which are additional blood vessels that replace damaged ones.  New capillaries speed up the healing process by carrying more oxygen as well as more nutrients needed for healing and they can also carry more waste products away.
 - Stimulate the production of collagen.  Collagen is the most common protein found in the body.  Collagen is the essential protein used to repair damaged tissue and to replace old tissue.  It is the substance that holds cells together and has a high degree of elasticity.  By increasing collagen production less scar tissue is formed at damaged site.
 - Stimulate the release of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is the major carrier of energy to all cells.  Increases in ATP allow cells to accept nutrients faster and get rid of waste products faster by increasing the energy level in the cell.  All food turns into ATP before it is utilized by the cells.  ATP provides the chemical energy that drives the chemical reaction of the cell.
 - Increase lymphatic system activity.  Edema, which is the swelling or natural splinting process of the body, has two basic components.  The first is a liquid part which can be evacuated by blood system and the second is comprised of the proteins which have to be evacuated by the lymphatic system.  Research has shown that the lymph vessel diameter and the flow of the lymph system can be doubled with the use of light therapy.  The venous diameter and the arterial diameters can also be increased.  This means that both parts of edema (liquid and protein) can be evacuated at a much faster rate to relieve swelling.
 - Increase RNA and DNA synthesis.  This helps damaged cells to be replaced more promptly.
 - Reduce the excitability of nervous tissue.  The photons of light energy enter the body as negative ions.  This calls upon the body to send positive ions like calcium among others to go to the area.  These ions assist in firing the nerves thereby relieving pain.
 - Stimulate fibroblastic activity which aids in the repair process.  Fibroblasts are present in connective tissue and are capable of forming collagen fibers.
 - Increase phagocytosis, which is the process of scavenging for and ingesting dead or degenerated cells by phagocyte cells for the purpose of clean up.  This is an important part of the infection fighting process.  Destruction of the infection and clean up must occur before the healing process can take place. /stong >
 - Induce a thermal like effect in the tissue.  The light raises the temperature of the cells although there is no heat produced from the diodes themselves.

Bowen Therapy:

Nutritional Evaluation:
Nutritional Evaluation - Muscle testing - Based on the concept of internal energy fundamental to traditional Chinese medicine, muscle testing is a noninvasive way of evaluating the body’s imbalances and assessing its needs.  It involves testing the body’s responses when applying slight pressure to a large muscle, to provide information of energy blockages, the functioning of the organs, nutritional deficiencies, and food sensitivities, among the other things.  It can also be used to test the body’s responses to herbs and other remedies.

In a typical example of muscle testing, you’re given an herb or product to hold.  You extend the other arm and are asked to keep it straight.  The practitioner presses down on this arm and the opposite shoulder with equal pressure (to facilitate balance).  If the herb or nutritional product is something you need, you’ll be able to resist the downward pressure and hold your arm rigid.  If not, you won’t.  The same procedure can be used to determine how often you should take each herb /nutritional product and how much each time.  It can also be used to test the body’s responses to foods (for allergies).  This technique will also help aid in Nutritional evaluation; we do not diagnose or prescribe.  Our whole practice will be confined to client education and guidance.

Acupuncture – The intent of acupuncture therapy is to promote health and alleviate pain and suffering.  The method by which this is accomplished, though it may seem strange and mysterious to many, has been time tested over thousands of years and continues to be validated today.

The perspective from which an acupuncturist views health and sickness hinges on concepts of “vital energy,” “energetic balance” and “energetic imbalance.”  Just as the Western medical doctor monitors the blood flowing through blood vessels and the messages traveling via the nervous system, the acupuncturist assesses the flow and distribution of this “vital energy” within pathways, known as “meridians and channels.”
